Title II Information

The Higher Education Act was amended in 1998 to include Section 207, also known as "Title II." This piece of legislation requires each state to collect data from institutions that prepare teachers and compile that data into a report that is submitted annually to the U.S. Department of Education (DOE). Institutions of Higher Education (IHEs) are required to submit their Title II reports to their respective state education departments each spring. Whitworth University has complied with that requirement and submitted its reports to the Washington Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction. The state has, in turn compiled institutional reports and submitted a state report to the U.S. Department of Education each fall. The DOE released their first national report on Title II on Nov. 29, 2001 (www.title2.org).

The Whitworth University Title II Report is saved as a PDF file and can be viewed and printed with Adobe Reader®. If you do not have the Adobe Reader® software installed on your computer, you can download a free copy from the Adobe website.

One aspect of Title II is the requirement of states to rank teacher education programs based on the percentage of candidates that pass state licensure examinations. Since Washington State has not yet instituted those examinations, that aspect of the report was not completed this year.
