Summer Housing

Whitworth University provides limited on-campus summer housing.

Typically, summer housing is offered at the Whitworth Neighborhood houses (3-5-person houses, full kitchens, no kitchenware provided, washer/dryer and air conditioning), Boppell Hall (2-4-person apartments, kitchenette, on-site laundry) and Duvall Hall (2-person bedrooms, common kitchen and on-site laundry).

  • No housekeeping duties are performed by the university during a student's stay. The university will supply basic housekeeping supplies upon request.
  • No dining is provided during the summer.
  • Private rooms are not guaranteed, but efforts are made to give each student their own room.

  • On-campus summer housing is available only to currently enrolled Whitworth students. Students must either be taking summer classes (no minimum number of credits) at Whitworth and/or working for the university as a student employee during their on-campus stay.
  • Summer housing ends July 31 for any student not returning to campus housing in the upcoming fall semester. No extensions will be granted. Please plan accordingly.
  • Students with on-campus housing for the fall semester are allowed to stay until the beginning of fall semester; however, they must move into their fall assignments by the date assigned (TBD each summer, typically between Aug. 10 and 15).
  • Any student who delays their move-out beyond the above schedules will be charged $50 per night.
  • For students enrolled in spring classes and moving into summer housing, move-in will happen between the Monday and Saturday following graduation.
    • Most on-campus residents will need to stay in their spring room until after the halls officially close (and maybe a few days longer) before moving into summer housing. Make sure to let your RA and (A)AC know that you will not check out with them. Instead, your checkout will be managed by the housing office's summer housing assistants.
    • Off-campus students will be allowed to move in as early as the Tuesday following graduation; however, some exceptions may apply. Please coordinate your arrival with the housing office as soon as you're aware of your need for summer housing.
  • Summer housing is very limited and offered on a first-come, first-served basis. We will accommodate as many requests as possible; however, please understand that late requests may be denied.

Costs through Summer 2024

Resident Information

Room Keys

The room key must be returned to the housing office at the end of your stay. Failure to return the key will result in a charge of at least $50.

This key is to be used only by the resident to whom it is issued. Residents are not allowed to let anyone else in the building with this key. Use of this key by other persons, either with or without the student's permission, will result in a charge of at least $50 per person, immediate removal of the student from the residence hall and reclamation of the key issued.

Students are allowed to use this key only between the dates agreed upon by the housing office. If a student needs access to the building earlier or longer than agreed upon, he/she should contact the housing office at or 509.777.4533. Entering campus buildings at times other than those agreed upon will result in a charge of at least $50, immediate removal from the hall and reclamation of the key issued.

Access Cards

A Whitworth student's regular ID card will allow access to summer housing (when in a building with ID-card controlled access); however, if a student has been issued a different/additional access card, the card must be returned at the end of the stay. Failure to return the card will result in a charge of at least $35.

Work Orders

Students can report work orders and request cleaning supplies, bathroom tissue, etc., via Pirate Port's "Work Order Requests."

Checking Out

Each resident must complete a checkout with the housing office shortly after the resident finishes their summer class or their on-campus job. If checking out after business hours, residents must complete an Express Checkout Form and return it to student life (instructions included on the form). To schedule a checkout during business hours, please email us in advance at or call 509.777.4533.
