How It Works

When paired with our pre-OT minor, the curriculum of the B.S. in rehabilitation science and B.A. in health & well-being integrate requirements for your undergraduate degree with those for your graduate degree, shortening the time it takes to earn a doctoral degree. This degree option is best for students who are committed to occupational therapy or who might be considering other healthcare careers.

You'll complete the majority of your undergraduate major requirements during the pre-professional phase of your program. Then you will begin taking three years (professional phase) of the doctoral-level coursework leading to your OTD, pending successful application into the OTD program.

Whitworth's B.A. in health & well-being and B.S. in rehabilitation science with a pre-OT minor are specifically designed to prepare you for successful entry into an accredited, graduate-level occupational therapy program. The pre-OT minor includes all prerequisite courses for a Doctorate in Occupational Therapy at Whitworth.

Enrolling in Whitworth's OTD Program

Students wishing to enroll in the accelerated program will apply to the occupational therapy doctorate portion of the program by Jan. 1 of the year prior to beginning the occupational therapy coursework. For a typical undergraduate student, this would mean an application would be submitted by Jan. 1 of the junior year of undergraduate studies. Please click here to apply on the Whitworth OTD page using OTCAS. If you are accepted into the OTD program at Whitworth, you will enroll in occupational therapy courses during the fall semester of your senior year.
