When You Return

Even though your study abroad/away program has come to an end, there are still several important items to keep in mind. Our office provides a variety of opportunities for you to continue exploring and sharing your experience.

Transcript & Credits

Students who studied abroad/away through a host university or partner program will receive an official transcript for their term. All transcripts should be sent to Nick McKinney in the Whitworth Office of International Education (NOT to the office of the registrar).

It is common for study abroad transcripts to be sent 2-4 months following the completion of the study abroad program term. Once received by the Whitworth international office, the transcript will be processed and sent to the office of the registrar for final posting to your student record.

OCP Photo Contest

The photo contest is open to Whitworth students who have or are currently studying abroad/away on an off-campus program. Applicants may submit only one photograph for each category below. We will select one winning photo and runner-up for each category. Submission deadline is Oct. 15.

  • Category 1 – Student Experiences
Show us those once-in-a-lifetime moments that you would never have been able to have in Spokane. From a hike in the mountains of Uruguay to an internship in South Africa, ask yourself: Did study abroad change the way you look at yourself and the world? Capture that moment.
  • Category 2 – Local Culture & Tradition
We are looking for photos that showcase the culture and customs unique to the areas you studied or visited. Show us an image that captures the essence of your host country. From the dragon boat races of Hong Kong to the street vendors of Morocco, be sure to look beyond the landmarks.
  • Category 3 – Landscapes
Submit your best landscape photo. From a sweeping shot of the Barcelona skyline to a picturesque mountain range, capture the landscape that took your breath away.

Participants and winners will be notified via email with results, and a public announcement will be made. Winning photos will be enlarged and put on display during International Education Week, Nov. 18-22.
