Called to Faithful Preaching

Our hope within the Faithful Preaching Calling Community is to connect you with other ministry leaders, people who like yourself are striving to carry on faithful gospel ministry. This formation program is based upon the premise that we grow in Christ as we grow in relationship with others, with all those relationships centered upon the life-giving revelation found in God's Word. This Calling Community will be the place where those relationships are nurtured.

This community will also be a place to share resources, discuss the joys and challenges of preaching and practice together the writing, delivery and mechanics of the sermon. In our changing culture we will engage topics around the future of preaching and our unique contexts in which we preach.

A friend recently sent me a quote from an old book by Richard Baxter entitled The Reformed Pastor, written in 1656.

When I read it I thought about all of us who are together involved in this sacred calling of proclaiming God's truth and grace through the scriptures. Baxter wrote: "First, we are exhorted to take heed to ourselves, lest we should be void of that saving grace of God which we are offering to others. For it is possible to offer this grace to others yet be a stranger to the effectual working of the Gospel we preach. We can proclaim the necessity of a Savior, and in our hearts be neglecting him."

It is our prayerful hope that your participation in the Faithful Preaching Calling Community will be an experience of God's grace, truth, and love in Jesus Christ flowing into your lives so that you will be a chosen vehicle of that same grace in the lives of others.

"Christ we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we might present everyone mature in Christ. For this I toil, struggling with all the energy that Christ powerfully works within me."
Paul the Apostle, Colossians 1:28-29.
