Called to Reconciliation

"Reconciliation is an ongoing spiritual process involving forgiveness, repentance and justice that restores broken relationships and systems to reflect God’s original intention for all creation to flourish” (Brenda Salter-McNeil, Roadmap to Reconciliation, p. 22).

The goal of the Reconciliation Calling Community is to transform fragmented interpersonal and intercommunal relationships through the practice of biblical, relational and practical reconciliation.

Reconciliation Reading Groups

Reading groups are designed for anyone interested in pursuing justice in their churches and communities. Individuals gather to read and discuss books on the topic of reconciliation and the church, spend time in intentional community, and interrogate personal biases. Past books include I'm Still Here by Austin Channing Brown, Rediscipling the White Church by David Swanson, Reading While Black by Esau McCaulley, and many others.

Biblical Justice Forum

The Biblical Justice Forum organizes monthly speakers to tackle issues of justice. This program is a collaboration between the OCE and First Presbyterian Church of Spokane. This year's theme is "Courageous Conversations." We hope to inspire thoughtful, grace-filled, passionate dialogue about difficult topics. This is a space for the broader faith community in Spokane to gather, learn, listen and have dialogue about important issues of social justice. Our speakers are currently joining us virtually. Stay tuned to our Facebook and Instagram pages to see upcoming events.

Anti-Racism Alliance

The group was designed to help pastors and community leaders examine their own racial biases and grow in the work of anti-racism. As part of this, members completed the workbook "Me and White Supremacy."

9x9 Clergy Reconciliation Groups

9x9 groups are self-formed small groups that include up to nine ministry leaders committed to gathering once per month to engage in anti-racist work. These groups formed in the spring and have committed to nine months of gatherings.
