Events & Activities
Fall Kickoff Event
Each year, faculty and staff gather for a lunchtime program at the beginning of the new academic term. At this community-building event, President Beck A. Taylor welcomes everyone back to campus and offers his State of the University address. Following President Taylor's remarks, new-hires are welcomed to the community and we discuss other topics of interest to Whitworthians.
President’s Christmas Reception and Dinner and Tree-Lighting Event
Whitworth celebrates the beginning of the Christmas season with a dinner hosted by President Beck Taylor and his wife, Julie, for all current Whitworth faculty, students and staff. This celebration takes place on the Monday before Finals Week, from 4 to 7 p.m., in the HUB. The event begins at 5 p.m. in the Multipurpose Room, with the actual tree-lighting ceremony taking place outside, near the campanile (weather permitting).
President’s Coffees for Staff
Whitworth’s president meets with staff over coffee several times during the academic term. The coffees are held in Seeley Mudd Chapel, from 8 to 9 a.m. Refreshments are served. Each coffee features a devotion by the president, along with administrative updates, introduction of new staff, announcements from those in attendance, and questions and answers about topics of interest. Employees are notified each August of the schedule for the upcoming academic year.
Faculty and Staff End-of-Year Celebration and Worship Service
This is a special event designed to celebrate the end of the academic year and to thank and honor those who are retiring from Whitworth. This celebration generally takes place the first Monday after commencement.
