Summer Courses

Summer courses for 2024 are now available here: 2024 Summer Courses.

Thinking about getting some extra credits this summer? Whitworth has summer courses to help you get you the credits you need.

Whitworth University provides three- and six-week sessions with a variety of courses that can satisfy major requirements as well as general education courses. Check out the course offerings on Self-Service. All courses can be registered for on Self-Service.

Tuition

Summer course tuition varies by program. Traditional daytime students pay $560 per credit during the summer. For other programs please see the department for the exact tuition amount.

Campus

Whitworth staff members are here during the summer. While residence-hall life may slow down, we offer a number of campus services during the summer.

Summer Visits

Summer campus visits are offered weekdays. (Whitworth is closed on Memorial Day and Independence Day.)

Bookstore

Our bookstore is located on Hawthorne Road by Hawthorne Hall. The bookstore stocks Whitworth merchandise, books and gifts.

Housing

Whitworth University provides limited on-campus summer housing. Check out the details here.

U-Rec

Whitworth's recreation center is open limited hours Monday-Friday: 6-8 a.m., 11 a.m.-2 p.m., and 4-7 p.m.; closed Saturday and Sunday.

Outdoor recreation equipment (e.g., bikes, backpacks, sleeping bags, tents, stoves, camping pads, roller blades) can be rented during open hours.

Bouldering available during facility open hours.

A valid Whitworth I.D. card is REQUIRED to access the facility.

Dining

The Mind & Hearth Coffee House's summer hours are Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m, beginning May 31.

Hixson Union Building (HUB)

The HUB houses our dining hall, multipurpose room, catering rooms and conference rooms. Also located in the HUB are the post office, public restrooms, telephones, ATM, laundry-card machine, coffee shop, vending machines, campus information, and the Whitworth Conferences and Special Events office.

Library

In the summer, Harriet Cheney Cowles Memorial Library is open six days a week, and reference assistance is available weekdays. The library currently offers the use of its resources to walk-in users.

Library summer hours:

  • Monday-Thursday: 8 a.m.-8 p.m.
  • Friday: 8 a.m.-5:30 p.m.
  • Saturday: 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
  • Sunday: Closed

Reference hours:

  • Monday: 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
  • Tuesday and Wednesday: 9 a.m.-8 p.m.
  • Thursday: 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
  • Friday: 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
  • No reference desk on Saturday or Sunday

Post Office

The university post office is located in the HUB. During the summer, hours of operation are Monday-Friday, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.; closed on weekends. Postal services include UPS and Fed Ex delivery. If you are having mail sent to you at the university, please contact a conference assistant for pick-up information.
